Amish Country Attractions

You will find that a visit to the Arthur area and Illinois Amish Country has much to see and do, yet its slower pace gives you plenty of time to relax and remember better times past.

For day trips or 3 day or longer visits, there is a lot to see and do to fill your time. Whatever your interests... from family fun to theater, from shopping out of the way shops to sightseeing, plan to be entertained.

Visually, Amish Country can be very entertaining. Horse and buggy travelers, used buggy sales lots, fertile farm land with pastures full of large belgian horses, well kAmish Homeept flower gardens, white clapboard farm houses with traditional blue drapes... all together worth the visit. Use an afternoon to take a guided tour of the area and you'll see all of this plus find the shops and get a lot of background in the Amish culture that so strongly flavors the area. The guided tours can be with a live guide in your vehicle, or on your own with a tape or CD tour.

Many special events fill the Amish area calendar! Festivals, auctions, opry's,  benefit suppers, fairs, BBQ's, and so much more, give you plenty of reasons to stay longer or to return. Check the calendar for the events around your possible visit dates and then make your plans.
